I regret to announce that Reuben are unable to play their slot on the 2000 Trees Festival in July, but they would still urge people to go anyway - it should be a great weekend. They are very sorry to disappoint fans who have already bought tickets, as you can imagine Reuben hate cancelling shows. The band are all in good health but the culmination of several pressures just makes it impossible for Jamie to go ahead with it.
The band are not planning any more gigs or releases for the foreseeable future - I should make it clear that the band members are all on amicable terms and are supportive of the need to call a halt.
This seems like a good time to thank everyone who has helped and encouraged Reuben along the way; some of you have been there from the start, others from last week, some are within the music industry, others are simply fans - it doesn't matter which, you are all important and have given great strength to all concerned.
Thank you so much,
Barney

Probably not.
In slightly less words:
Reuben are taking an indefinite break from playing any more gigs or recording or releasing anything as of now. |

I was so not expecting that!
Would it be classed as a hiatus?
I wish the boys well and hope that whatever the situ is, it resolves itself.

This is quite probably the worst thing ever aside a full on reuben split.
If you'll all excuse me, I'm going to curl up into a ball and rock back and forth, not blinking until this situation resolves itself.

Right. Well. Damn.
As ric said, I think it's pretty fair to assume that "not planning any more gigs or releases" means effectively that, for the immediate future at least, reuben are no more. So excuse me if I have an emotional hollywood speech moment. I've been following Reuben for about 8 years now, and as such they've been a very big part of my 'musical maturing' if you will, helping me grow from listening to Nirvana and just Nirvana all day every day to listening to the wide range of stuff I listen to now. I've been to somewhere in the region of 30 gigs in that time. I've learned every word to every song, and I've shared some frankly fucking amazing times with friends listening to, and going to see Reuben. Some of those friends I met on the old IMAhosting board, some on here, and a large number of them I now see in normal non-reuben-related social situations.
I remember the day Racecar was released, going to buy it at the rock box in camberley and feeling a real sense of pride that the guys had managed to record a bloody fantastic album and get it out there despite the constant struggle to get signed, and that whole thing with always being called "The next big thing" but just never quite making it. However misplaced that pride may be, being that I had precisely fuck all to do with the band getting that far, the fact that despite those struggles never really going away the guys managed to get 2 more albums, several singles and and an EP out is a testament to how hard they've worked.
So as shit as this is, and as gutted as I, everyone else who is on this board, anyonewho bought a CD or anyone who went to a gig is bound to be, I think this is an understandable decision to make. I wish all three lads (and mr barney jeavons, king of the west end centre!) the very best for the future.
Thanks, guys. You fucking ruled. _________________ Well if you're just gonna be like that

I'm shocked...
It's not permanent though, right? Would be terrible to think of my favourite band for the past seven years gone forever! _________________ "We can't let mortals decide their own descriptions, we'd get baloons." |

| I'd personally pay for a release of The Last Time, if it were to be the last thing that the lads put out there. |
