Getcho' tickets now! | | permalink | discuss | | THU 29TH MAR 2007: VIDEO SHOOT | We're off to Great Yarmouth today to film the video for our new single, 'Blood, Bunny, Larkhall'¯. It's very exciting and hopefully will look very good. We're filming it with Jabez, the company who filmed and produced our DVD, and who knows? We might even go for dip in sea if it's nice! (Please note- this is unlikely)
Then STRAIGHT after we finish filming, we're going to run down to the Concorde 2 in Brighton to DJ at 'Hell Yeah'¯, which is a club night, wouldn't you believe! And if you believe our choice of songs to be suspect, you can get cheap drinks as well, so you should probably come. We're going to flatten the dancefloor! That's right, it's time to reveal a little more of that shaky device we call a ''plan''¦After we get home from this little tour and release the DVD officially, we'll start getting ready for the first single off our new album (we know what it is), to be released in June (ish), shortly followed by the album, 'In Nothing We Trust'¯, in June/July.
Then, after a summer of bits and bobs i.e. one-off shows, festivals, in-stores etc, we're going to set off on the big honking album tour, with another single in tow to make sure you've all had a chance to hear the new stuff before we indulge ourselves with set time and all that. If you pick up the mag this month, you'll find a little piece on us in the studio along with a very nice big picture. The album is currently being mastered in New York by Howie Weinberg, who done Nirvana's ''Nevermind', and also the Engerica album. | | permalink | | SAT 3RD FEB 2007: DVD DETAILS AND LEEDS SHOW | Well now'¦the official release of the DVD is being put back by two weeks, to the 19th of March, for various reasons, but the good news is that not only will you still be able to buy it weeks before that at the February shows, but also that we've decided to include all the video diaries from the making of the album on said DVD, bumping it up to a two-disc chock-a-block Reuben bonanza. Hooray!
Don't forget that although the shows are selling out nice, there are still a few left with tickets available so go grab them, and if you want to buy a DVD at the show be sure to bring enough cashola, it'll be £15. We've just been putting the finishing touches to the artwork for the packaging, and it looks nice nice nice. We all want one!
In other news, we've confirmed a show at Leeds Uni on the 13th of March, partly because we haven't been there for a while, but mainly because they've GUARANTEED a multipack of Squares crisps on the rider. There should be details of this show on the live page very soon.
And lastly, if you've seen adverts for ITV's new show ''Primeval' on telly, you'll be interested to know that they're using a couple of our songs for various ''dangerous' moments. We can't remember which ones, but it's still exciting.

More news as it happens! | | permalink | | THU 25TH JAN 2007: CELEBRATING THE LIFE OF DARREN 'WIZ' BROWN | As many of you are aware our friend, Darren 'Wiz' Brown, suddenly passed away late last year. Wiz was a very respected member of the music community, having fronted the Mega City Four back in the 90's and later on, Ipanema. Wiz showed his appreciation towards our band, Reuben, on many occasions and often wrote to us and came to our shows to show his support. He shall be missed.
Reuben shall be partaking in an event at the Islington Academy on March 4th 2007, to celebrate the life of Wiz. Here are the details:

It really feels like you all understand what we're trying to do and why, which is encouraging and relieving and lots of other good words.
After a huge response to our Hideous Squad signup, we've now closed applications before it becomes too massive to handle. If you applied you will be contacted by email, and if you didn't get the chance then don't worry, the chances are there will be further recruitments at some stage, and there are still other ways you can help Reuben and Hideous.

Over the past few months as we've been working on our DVD and our third album, we've also been negotiating a distribution deal with our good friends Vital, who've distributed pretty much everything we've ever released, and working out a plan of attack.
We're looking to release the DVD in a number of independent record shops across the country, and later give the new album a general UK release. Both will hopefully be available for sale and postal delivery on the label website, and don't forget that the DVD is available before its official release date on the February tour (more details on the live page.)
We've taken this step in order to have a bit more control over the release of our music, so we can be involved every step of the way. It's a fairly daunting task, but we're up to it, and we hope that we can rely on you lot for the same support you've always shown us.
This is why we're starting our own street team, the Hideous Squad, to be run by us as part of the label. We're dissolving out X-taster team, and unfortunately we can't give preference to any of their members for the new squad, but we'd like to say a real big thank you, genuinely, for all the help they/you've given us over the last few years.
You can apply for membership of the Hideous Squad through the label's website, www.hideousrecords.com. Before you apply, please be aware that not everyone can be on the squad - we're asking for a lot of dedication, we're asking for people who really genuinely want to do whatever they can to help this new label as an extension of the band, a means of getting our music over to anyone who wants to listen. Being on the squad means handing out flyers and posters, standing outside venues smiling at people like idiots, staying late at shows and seeing a lot of your flyers trampled on the floor. It's a big responsibility, to be the public face of Hideous Records, and of Reuben, seeing as Reuben are the only band on the roster!
This label is us, it's Reuben's label, it's not some guys in an office, it's Jim, Jon, Guy and Barney. If you get sent fliers to hand out or you buy a CD on the site or you receive an email about something or other remember that it's from us, we put it in the jiffy bag, we licked the stamps. Because of a US copyright on the well known and really good phrase "What Happens in Vegas Stays In Paradise" (what?) we've had to change the name of our forthcoming DVD to 'What Happens In Aldershot Stays In Aldershot', which is probably a bit funnier anyway.
